There are untold thousands of homeless cats living in the streets of NYC. LICFF wants to do our part to reduce those numbers. To do this, we trap, neuter, return, and care for the homeless cats in and around Long Island City. We rescue cats in need, and help to find homes for “friendlies.” We strive to educate the public to make the community a more welcoming and accepting place for our feline inhabitants.
We are a group of residents of Long Island City who came together through our mutual concern for the cats living in our community. We all have "day jobs" but devote much of our non-working hours doing TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return), rescue and colony care. All our volunteers have one thing in common - a great love and respect for cats!
The founding members of LICFF discovered that they each were individually feeding the same community cats at different hours until the fateful day in 2017 when they ran into each other and decided to coordinate their efforts. The organized group blossomed from there into a full-scale, 501(c)3 organization with more volunteers and trained rescuers who respond to calls for help from the community for all things cat-related.
